Beware of Tax Scams

Tax payers have reported receiving fraudulent tax invoices through email.  The invoice often has very accurate data regarding their parcel information and amount of tax owed.  A sample fraudulent invoice is below.

The City of Middletown does not send tax bills through email.  The Tax Collector's office mails out physical bills to tax payers.

You can pay your City of Middletown taxes online.  The correct links are listed on the City of Middletown's Payment site as well as on your physical bill.

If you have questions about the legitimacy of a tax bill, please call the Tax Collector's office at 860-638-4900.

If you are a victim of this fraud, please report it to the Middletown Police Department and file a report with the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3).  Filing a report on IC3 may result in the recovery of some lost funds.
