Topic: “Doing Genealogy Research at the Mystic Seaport Museum”
Speaker: Paul O’Pecko, V.P. of Research Collections & Library Dir., Mystic Seaport Museum
Paul O’Pecko will be joining us to talk to us about the museum’s resources of interest to genealogists and family historians, and how and when to access them. The museum’s Collections Research Center (CRC) is the nation’s leading maritime research facility. Located across the street from Mystic Seaport, the former J. Rossie Velvet Company houses the museum’s collections and offers safe and easy access to maritime researchers and scholars.
Artifacts at the CRC include more than two million examples of maritime art, tools, buildings, imprints and other documents, photographs, ship registers (1,000), audiotaped oral history interviews (600), videotaped interviews (200), and historic and contemporary maritime-related video footage (1.5 million feet).

It is time again to remember and show respect to those Veterans that are no longer with us in honor of Veterans Day. The support from those who have assisted over the years is being asked to continue this honor to our Veterans once again.
VFW Post 583 is asking for help and assistance on Saturday, November 9, 2019, starting at 9:00 AM sharp at the Veterans Cemetery located on Bow Lane in Middletown, to place approximately 10,000 American Flags to honor the Veterans that are laid to rest there.
Veteran Groups, Youth Groups, Public and Community Organizations, and individuals that would like to assist in honoring and remembering those Veterans who served our Country are welcome to show that their sacrifices are “NEVER FORGOTTEN”.
Youth groups are especially welcome to assist us in the placement of the flags.
Flags will be onsite and you do not need to register or call, just please show up by 8:30am for the 9:00am start time on Saturday, November 9th, RAIN OR SHINE, OR SNOW.

Boston’s Ensemble Aubade (Peter H. Bloom, flute; Francis Grimes, viola; and Mary Jane Rupert, harp) is making their debut in the Russell Library concert series! The ensemble will perform Claude Debussy’s transcendent Sonata for Flute, Viola and Harp, one of the masterpieces of the chamber music repertoire. Other selections will include the lush and thrilling Sonatine en Trio by Maurice Ravel, the witty Suite Brêve by Ladislas de Rohozinski, and the evocative Elegiac Trio by Arnold Bax.
