  1. Make a Peace Crane

    August 6, 2019, 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM @ The Russell Library

All ages are welcome to learn to fold a peace crane using traditional origami folding techniques. This event is in memory of Sadako Sasaki (1943 - 1955), a Japanese girl who survived the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945, but, like many others affected by the bomb, ended up succumbing to leukemia. While in the hospital, she folded paper cranes, a powerful symbol of health and longevity in Japanese folklore. The traditional paper crane has since become a symbol of peace. Drop-in, no registration required.
